Assistant Referee Flags Pack Of 2 (traditionally called linesman flags), used to signal various match events to the center referee and players. The bright, checkered orange and yellow pattern is designed for maximum visibility in all weather conditions, from bright sun to night games under floodlights
Common Assistant Referee Signals:
The way the official holds these flags communicates specific decisions:
-
Offside: The flag is first raised straight up to stop play. After the whistle, the angle indicates the location:
- Far side: Up at a 45-degree angle.
- Middle: Straight out horizontally.
- Near side: Pointed down at a 45-degree angle.
- Throw-in: Raised at a 45-degree angle pointing in the direction the awarded team is attacking.
- Goal Kick: Pointed horizontally toward the goal area.
- Corner Kick: Pointed downward at a 45-degree angle toward the nearest corner flag.
- Substitution: Held above the head with both hands, forming a horizontal bridge.
- Foul: Raised straight up and wiggled/waved back and forth.
- Handles: Usually made of non-slip sponge or rubber for a secure grip during fast movements.
- Rods: Typically lightweight stainless steel or aluminum to reduce arm fatigue during a full 90-minute match.
- Buzzer (Optional): High-level professional flags often include an electronic button that sends an audible signal to the center referee's earpiece
